Job Summary

The Fertigation Lead plays a crucial role in our cultivation facility by managing the daily operations of our irrigation systems. Reporting directly to the Flower Supervisor, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of our fertigation systems, ensuring that all nutrient feeding and irrigation requirements are met efficiently. You will also be charged with maintaining system records, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and training team members on best practices to uphold operational excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Irrigation Strategy & Execution:

    • Collaborate with the Cultivation Manager and Supervisors to implement and adjust irrigation strategies.
    • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and related components using power equipment and hand tools.
  • System Management & Optimization:

    • Program, monitor, and adjust irrigation system parameters for optimum performance.
    • Maintain a comprehensive database of irrigation controls, settings, and maintenance logs.
    • Develop, write, and update SOPs for irrigation operations and maintenance.
  • Inventory & Supply Management:

    • Monitor and maintain inventory of all irrigation supplies and place orders as needed.
  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure adherence to all local and state regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
    • Maintain accountability of team members in relation to irrigation operations.
    • Oversee regular maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and technology systems associated with irrigation.
  • Training & Development:

    • Train cultivation technicians on SOPs, best practices, and product knowledge related to fertigation.
    • Participate in regular team meetings to update processes and address any operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Previous experience with fertigation and irrigation systems, preferably within cannabis cultivation.
  • Strong working knowledge of plant nutrients and their specific requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills with excellent mathematical ability and a basic understanding of chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational, decision-making, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.


Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per day with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing are required.
  • Comfortable working with ladders (up to 12 ft. extension) and using general hardware tools.
  • Willingness to work in environments with exposure to dust, fumes, and varying conditions (e.g., indoor AC/no AC, noise, and motion).
  • May require the use of a respirator in certain work areas, subject to medical clearance and fit testing.
