Summary: The Cultivation Supervisor oversees daily cannabis cultivation operations, ensuring high-quality crop production through effective leadership, technical expertise, and strict compliance. Reporting to the Cultivation Manager, this role is responsible for coordinating staff, optimizing cultivation practices, and maintaining detailed documentation to ensure operational success. The Cultivation Supervisor also plays a vital role in driving consistency, efficiency, and innovation across the cultivation team.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of cultivation technicians, providing training and daily task direction
Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines
Oversee cultivation processes including cloning, pruning, topping, defoliation, trellising, irrigation, and pest management
Monitor plant health, environmental conditions, and facility cleanliness
Maintain accurate records of growth cycles, treatments, and environmental data
Support the Cultivation Manager in process development and compliance reporting
Implement quality control measures to maintain consistent product standards
Identify and resolve plant health or environmental issues proactively
Develop and execute efficient workflows to meet production targets
Manage inventory of cultivation materials and supplies, ensuring timely replenishment
Collaborate with quality assurance and testing teams to ensure compliance and readiness for harvest
Promote a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous improvement
Schedule and evaluate staff performance, providing coaching and recognition
Support hiring, onboarding, and development of cultivation staff
Foster collaboration across departments including compliance, post-harvest, and processing
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older
Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant science, agriculture, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in large-scale cultivation, nursery, or production agriculture
At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong knowledge of cannabis cultivation methods and regulatory requirements
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance
Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and ladder use
Extended standing and repetitive motion work
Comfortable working in varied environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, odors, and noise)
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
