Position Summary: 

As an iAnthus Cultivation Manager, you hold a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of cannabis cultivation within our production facility. Your primary responsibility is to manage and lead a team of Cultivation Supervisors, Technicians, and Harvesters, ensuring the successful execution of cultivation operations. You will develop and implement cultivation strategies, including planting schedules, nutrient plans, irrigation systems, and pest management protocols, to optimize plant health, growth, and overall yield. Collaboration with other departments, such as compliance, quality assurance, and operations, is crucial to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, quality standards, and operational efficiency.

Position Summary: 

As the Packaging Supervisor, your primary responsibility revolves around overseeing and co-managing the packaging operations in our production facility. Your role involves leading a team of packaging team members, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest levels of quality control throughout the process. You’ll coordinate and optimize packaging workflows, ensuring efficiency in materials usage, and overseeing inventory levels to prevent shortages or excesses. A critical aspect of your role involves implementing and upholding stringent quality control measures, guaranteeing consistency, accuracy, and compliance with labeling and safety protocols.

Essential Functions: 

Collaboration across departments and meticulous documentation of packaging activities to meet regulatory requirements are integral parts of your role, requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of evolving packaging regulations. While not directly responsible for driving sales in the traditional sense, the Packaging Supervisor’s dedication to operational efficiency, quality control, and customer satisfaction, you can significantly impact business outcomes and company sales performance. The following essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Driving Business + Sales 

  • Implement efficient packaging strategies that reduce production costs and contribute to higher profit margins. 

  • Positively influence sales by ensuring high-quality packaging so that it aligns with brand standards and resonates with our patients and customers by enhancing product appeal and customer satisfaction. 

  • Effectively manage team members’ work schedules to optimize workflows and to ensure that products are readily available to meet market demand, potentially increasing sales and preventing stock shortages. 

  • Safeguard the brand’s reputation and credibility by upholding compliance standards in packaging practices to foster customer trust and loyalty. 

  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure packaging aligns with brand identity, values, and market positioning. Enhance product presentation through innovative and attractive packaging designs that resonate with the target audience. 

  • Work closely with various departments, including sales, marketing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of packaging strategies across the company. 

  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in packaging strategies, whether in design, materials, or processes, to enhance sales performance and contribute to overall business growth.  

Policies + Procedures + Packaging Operations 

  • Monitor packaging supplies and materials to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize disruptions in production. 

  • Provide back-up support in the absence of the Packaging Manager. 

  • Administer strict quality control measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. 

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by enforcing sanitation protocols and safety measures. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and logistics, to facilitate seamless operations and effective communication across departments. 

  • Develop and implement packaging procedures, schedules, and workflows to meet production goals while maintaining quality and compliance. 

  • Identify areas for process improvements to enhance packaging efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall quality. 

  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and functionality of the packaging machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. 

  • Serve as a company brand ambassador and trains team members to represent the brand appropriately. 

  • Follow and implement the company’s core values including respect, diversity, sustainability, research, and service. 

  • Adhere to iAnthus' cultural principles of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. 

Team Member Management 

  • Provide leadership and guidance to packaging team members, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of compliance, productivity, and teamwork. 

  • Oversee and manage the Packaging team, including hiring, training, and scheduling. 

  • Foster a culture of motivation, engagement, and accountability among team members, encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement. 

  • Ensure that team members follow company policies, SOPs, safety regulations, and compliance standards, providing guidance and reinforcement as necessary. 

  • Identify training needs, organize training sessions, and support team members in acquiring new skills necessary for their roles. 

  • Serve as the “resource” for all team members for questions regarding department policies and standard operating procedures. 

  • Encourage open communication, actively listen to team member feedback, and address concerns to maintain a positive work environment. 

  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring that responsibilities are distributed appropriately and aligned with each team member’s strengths and capabilities. 

  • Acknowledge and appreciate employees’ contributions, providing recognition for exceptional performance. 

  • Efficiently allocate resources, including staffing and materials, to optimize productivity and achieve team objectives.

Qualifications + Education: 

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older (18 in NY). 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. 

  • College degree is preferred.  

  • Must consent to a criminal background check.  

  • Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of the criminal background check. 

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the production, manufacturing, or cultivation environment highly preferred.  

  • Deep knowledge of state-specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance is non-negotiable. 

  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage high-stress situations, and exhibit flexibility and adaptability when necessary. 

  • Ability to work independently or with others, coordinate multiple tasks, and prioritize work effectively. 

  • Reliability is a must. 

  • Meticulous organizational skills with acute attention to detail. 

  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.

Working Conditions 

The employee works in either a dispensary and/or cultivation environment. The employee is required to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The position also requires a high level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency. The employee must be able to work in a fast-faced environment, handling routine and reoccurring tasks. 

The employee will work in environments that include exposure to, but not limited to dirt, fertilizers, dusts, odors, fumes, high heat, low temperature, high and low humidity, high noise levels, vibrations, water, dry salts, allergens, pollen, dust, plant pathogens, other volatile organic compounds, heights, indoor A/C, no A/C, and other environmental variables. 

The position also requires a high level of scheduling flexibility and will occasionally include evening, weekend, and holiday work hours. The employee will encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday and must have a high regard for self-management, time management, and scheduling of activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time, move around, and clearly communicate. The employee must constantly position oneself to move freely. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee should have the ability to meet the physical demands of lifting, carrying and positioning heavy objects and should be familiar and comfortable using the assistance of push/pull manual transport equipment (ex: pallet jack, hand truck). The employee will often need to use a ladder, with up to a 12’ extension and general hardware tools.  

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
