Summary

The Packaging Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, is responsible for managing all daily operations of Production Department, including Packaging of all finished products, leading a patient-centric team and providing clear direction to achieve MMI company initiatives. Additionally, the Packaging Manager implements and maintains the policies and procedures of MMI and ensures compliance with all state and local laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of monthly schedules that meet or exceed iAnthus and Customer expectations.
  • Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and correct equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products or product quality issues
  • Oversees Packaging technicians delegating daily tasks to production agents.
  • Monitors daily activities and provides guidance on best practices such that all products meet quality specifications.
  • Transitions cannabis plant material through the packaging process including packaging of all products while executing all chain of custody changes which occurs within Internal ERP and METRC.
  • Entering production orders for all finished products including flower, pre-rolls, vaporizers, concentrates, etc. into Internal ERP/METRC systems
  • Performs weekly, or as otherwise needed, audits on weights of all cannabis post-harvest until it has been sent
  • to the vault and reports abnormalities to the Director of Manufacturing.
  • Execute quality control audits of finished goods.
  • Collaborates with Ops., Wholesale, Retail, and Extraction Manager to proactively maintain on-time delivery of finished goods.
  • Collaborates with the Ops. Team to estimate all production needs and labor costs, as well as, ordering all materials & supplies for trim, cure and packaging.
  • Coordinates with Marketing, Purchasing, Inventory, Ops. and Compliance to ensure new packaging is received, compliance checked, added to METRC product catalog, and launched by target dates.
  • Creates or oversees the creation of Package batch Labels and ensures 100% accuracy of all labels before they are applied to packages.
  • Generates multiple reports within ERP system and METRC, to support a S & OP driven forecast
  • Coordinates departmental equipment purchases and repairs with the Ops. Team and schedule as directed
  • Always ensures compliance with all sanitation regulations and safety standards in the production of all products produced by MMI as set in MMI’s Policy and Procedure Manuals
  • Provides support for Cultivation, Processing, and Inventory Managers in daily operations
  • Implements and ensure execution of a rigid cleaning schedule dividing focus of duties daily, weekly, and monthly as needed
  • Executes and enforces compliance of all local and state regulations.
  • Maintains accountability of all team members, in relation to specific job description.
  • Prepares weekly schedules for trim and packaging to ensure there is proper coverage based on the business needs
  • Upholds all MMI policies and procedures and providing feedback for any potential procedural changes which may occur within all departments to the Director of Manufacturing.
  • Executes and manages payroll budget for packaging technicians.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Security when needed or necessary.

Qualifications and Education

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or related discipline preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years manufacturing experience with progressive responsibilities and leadership experience. Experience in management of production schedules, reading technical documents and blueprints preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Quality systems preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to lead team activities and act as a coach.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Quality systems preferred.
  • Must have strong computer skills, especially Microsoft office.
  • Communication Proficiency.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts;
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds;
  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout a workday;
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to use a ladder (up to 12 ft. extension) and general hardware tools needed for common repairs;
  • Ability and willingness to work in the following conditions:
  • General office environment.
  • Extended computer usage.
  • Extended phone usage including teleconferences, and
  • Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.
